1. Why have some countries donated more in aid to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan than others?
I think some countries donated more in aid to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan than others is because some countries have different conflicts with The Philippines, such China with the South China Sea. Also because other countries aren't as developed/rich as other countries are.
2. How does the aid being sent to victims of Typhoon Haiyan represent the following:
Altruism - I think some countries do help out of the goodness of their heart. Like i think the US has a history with the philippines cause of World War II and how they're allies. But they could also feel obligated to help the Philippines cause they have US troops that are based here.
Geopolitics - One of the countries who is in a very good place right now is China. China only gave $100,00 when their GDP is 7,000,000,000,000. I guess the reason for that is that China and The Philippines are not in good terms because of the South China Sea. They are both fighting for it and both won't back down. China and The Philippines have killed locals after locals who claim that its their part of the ocean.
Neo-colonialism - There are some countries as well with other motives in mind i guess after the disaster that is happening to the philippines they could ask for something in return, i guess to be allies with the Philippines and when their in time of need, the Philippines would help them out as well. Also in the NBA as Mr. Barnes has mentioned knowing that they have many filipino fans it would make them look better to the filipinos and so that they keep the filipino fans watching and supporting the NBA.
